Derek is a prop maker and the creator behind the YouTube channel, VanOaks Props. His love for building elaborate Halloween displays and replica Star Wars props has created a unique perspective and even more interesting set of skills. A maker from the age of 8, he’s spent a lifetime learning the tricks of the trade and has made it his mission to share his knowledge and encourage others to "go make something."
In one sentence describe...
1. What it is you create/craft:
I’m a prop maker with a focus on Halloween & Star Wars related projects.
2. What is your favorite Surebonder product:
The PRO2-60DEW Cordless glue gun. Not sure what I’d do without it.
3. What craft have you always wanted to try:
That’s a tough one. Probably sewing. I know a little (just enough to be “dangerous”) but would love to really learn how to make garments for costuming.
4. What inspires you:
I love to learn new things. So anytime I’m exposed to something new it tends to spark my creativity.
