Meet Max

This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Max from MB Crafts as our Maker of the Month for August 2026!

From building a thriving creative business during the height of the pandemic to inspiring fellow makers with fresh designs and bold ideas, Max has spent years turning imagination into beautifully crafted projects. His passion for experimenting with new techniques and helping others succeed has made him a respected voice in the crafting community.

Now it's time for a little Q&A

We've asked Max to share his story and some insights he's gained along his crafting journey. Let's get into it!

1. How long have you been creating and how did you get started?

I’ve been crafting for well over 10 years and started my design business nearly six years ago. This was just after I finished high school and during Covid. I fell in love with designing, and as I grew as a designer, I was inspired to help others. That’s what led me to start a design group. Where I coach other creatives on how to make wreaths, swags, centerpieces, and so much more. It just goes to show that you never know where crafting can take you.

2. What is/are your favorite Surebonder product(s):

3. What inspires you to create? What do you love most and what is the hardest part about the creative process?:

I love finding inspiration in all things, whether it’s nature or something I saw on social media or just coming up with an idea in my head and running with it. The hardest part is deciding on a project because there are so many I want to create and simply do not have enough time to make them all.

4. Who’s another maker you admire and what do you love about their work?:

I really admire all the wreath makers and designers out there because everyone kinda has their own style that speaks to their personality. Being able to see them bring out their personality in their designs is very admiring, and it helps keep everyone’s projects unique. They’re able to tell a story through their creations.

5. How do you manage and overcome creative burnout?:

Usually, when I get burnt out, I go on a vacation, relax, or step away. Then I’m eager to get back in the craft room as soon as I get home.

6. Have you experienced a fail? How did you work through it and what did you learn?:

There have been times I’ve come up with projects, and I’ve thought "these are going to be a good seller", but turns out they were not as admired as I had hoped, so learning to pivot and to try something new is key.

7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started?:

Let your creativity run; don’t ever worry about what other people think. It’s your time and creativity being used, so as long as you enjoy it and it brings you happiness, that’s all that matters.

8. What’s next for you? (a new project? a new technique? a new venture?):

I’m always dabbling in new stuff, coming up with new color combos and new design techniques to keep my brain going, and I can’t wait to see where they take me.
