Meet Melody

This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Melody of Melody In The Making as our Maker of the Month for October 2026! 

With a lifelong love of making and a passion for bringing bold colors, playful patterns, and unexpected twists to her projects, Melody has turned her creativity into a space where there are no rules and no shortage of ideas. From felt and paper crafts to painting, faux florals, upcycled art, and seasonal celebrations, she loves exploring new mediums and finding ways to make each project uniquely her own. What started as a way to connect with fellow creatives and moms in 2020 has grown into a vibrant creative community where Melody encourages others to experiment, embrace the occasional crafting fail, and most importantly, just start.

Now it's time for a little Q&A

We've asked Melody to share her story and some insights she's gained along her crafting journey. Let's get into it!

1. How long have you been creating and how did you get started?

I've been crafting since as long as I can remember; I express myself through creativity and making things with my hands! I started on social media as a crafter in 2020, during the pandemic as a way to connect with other creatives and moms. I love sharing seasonally driven and holiday-centered crafts, DIYs, and celebrations. I love to dabble in all types of mediums like felt crafts, paper crafts, painting, faux flowers, upcycle art, etc.

2. What is/are your favorite Surebonder product(s):

3. What inspires you to create? What do you love most and what is the hardest part about the creative process?:

I'm inspired by bold colors, fun patterns, and unexpected twists on classic crafts. I love taking something and putting my own spin on it, whether it's an old crafting technique used in a new way, or a trending DIY that I add my unique take to. The hardest part of the creative process is not having enough time to finish everything I want to get done!

4. Who’s another maker you admire and what do you love about their work?:

I love makers who have unique talents like rug making or window display artists. I love how inventive they are and how they aren't afraid to think bigger!

5. How do you manage and overcome creative burnout?:

I recharge by spending time with family or reorganizing / cleaning my craft spaces and supplies.

6. Have you experienced a fail? How did you work through it and what did you learn?:

I experience crafting fails at least once or twice a month. I learned that it's okay to share those failures because perfect art doesn't exist. I also learned how to pivot and that it's okay to take projects in directions not initially intended.

7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started?:

Don't be afraid to just start. The greatest artist and crafter all had to start somewhere! Also, it's okay to try new things, techniques, mediums, it's all a playground!

8. What’s next for you? (a new project? a new technique? a new venture?):

I plan to finally fix up and organize my entire craft room. I want it to feel like my own mini craft store!
