1. How long have you been creating and how did you get started?
I have been crafting since I was a little kid with what my mom called the "Barney Box" of craft supplies! After college, I started doing DIY projects to customize my apartment, and then began blogging about my projects. That grew into CharlestonCrafted, which is now my husband and I's full time business. We share DIY projects, crafts, woodworking, and teach others how to craft their dream home with the power of DIY!
2. What is/are your favorite Surebonder product(s):
My favorite Surebonder product is hands down the Lynn Lilly Edition Cordless/Corded 20 Watt Mini Glue Gun—it's seriously a game-changer. I love that it gives you the power of a corded glue gun but the freedom to go cordless when you need it, and the pretty blue color doesn’t hurt either!

3. What inspires you to create? What do you love most and what is the hardest part about the creative process?:
I’m inspired by finding ways to make our home more functional for our family and turning everyday moments into something magical for my kids. What I love most is seeing their eyes light up when we create something together—it’s like crafting confidence right into them! The hardest part? Knowing when to stop and call a project done—I always have more ideas swirling around!
4. Who’s another maker you admire and what do you love about their work?:
I am obsessed with Zoe from Pine and Poplar—she’s such an amazing woodworker! Everything she makes looks straight out of a magazine, and I love how she turns raw wood into truly beautiful, functional pieces. Total inspo.
5. How do you manage and overcome creative burnout?:
Since this is my full-time job, there are definitely times I just have to push through creative burnout and keep going. But when I really need a reset, doing a totally silly, just-for-fun craft helps so much—especially after working on a long, involved project. It’s like a little creative palette cleanser!
6. Have you experienced a fail? How did you work through it and what did you learn?:
Oh absolutely—projects fail all the time around here! Last Halloween, I tried to make a giant spider out of playground balls and pool noodles, and it just would not stay together. I had to walk away for a bit, but luckily my husband stepped in and we figured it out together—teamwork really does make the dream work!
7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started?:
My best advice? Just do it—don’t be afraid to mess up or make something totally unexpected. Some of my favorite projects started as something completely different than what they ended up being, and that’s part of the fun!
8. What’s next for you? (a new project? a new technique? a new venture?):
Next up is Halloween—my absolute favorite! I go all out with a huge yard display, tons of indoor decor, and all the fun crafts and spooky snacks with my kids. It’s going to be magical, and I seriously can’t wait!
