Meet Krystle

This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Krystle from Perkins on Parkway as our Maker of the Month for February 2026!

A longtime creator and passionate DIYer, Krystle has spent the last five years inspiring her community with projects that blend thoughtful design, practical function, and a truly approachable style. From woodworking and home renovations to seasonal crafts and creative home updates, her work is rooted in the belief that making should feel achievable, meaningful, and personal. Her creative journey is full of problem-solving, learning through trial and error, and finding beauty in the imperfect—making her story one every maker can relate to.

Join us in celebrating Krystle as she embraces the beauty of imperfect, handmade creations and the joy found in the creative process itself.

Now it's time for a little Q&A

We've asked Krystle to share her story and some insights she's gained along her DIY journey. Let's get into it!

1. How long have you been creating and how did you get started?

I’ve been creating and making for as long as I can remember, but I’ve been sharing my work online for the last 5 years. I found myself with more free time during the Pandemic when my company allowed us to work from home. I started sharing my home as a way to build community. What started as small DIY projects and home updates quickly turned into a passion for building, crafting, and designing spaces that feel thoughtful and lived-in. Today, I create DIY, home, and craft content. Everything from woodworking and home renovations to seasonal crafts and creative projects, always with an emphasis on making things feel approachable and achievable.

2. What is/are your favorite Surebonder product(s):

My go-to is the Surebonder mini glue gun. I’ve been using a version of it for over 10 years at this point! It's reliable, heats consistently, and holds up through everything from delicate felt projects to more heavy-duty builds.

Can you believe Krystle’s Surebonder Mini Glue Gun has been going strong for over 10 years? It’s the tool she reaches for again and again, whether she’s working on delicate felt details or tackling more heavy-duty builds. Try one of our newest versions for yourself — it just might become the last mini glue gun you'll ever need.

In Krystle's latest project, she tries out our PRO2-60, a professional cordless glue gun (we think this might be her new fave!)

3. What inspires you to create? What do you love most and what is the hardest part about the creative process?:

I’m inspired by everyday life, seasonal changes, travel, traditional crafts, and the idea of creating things that feel meaningful rather than disposable. I think form and function both serve a purpose, but when you can bring them together, that's the best. I love the problem-solving aspect of making, especially when a project evolves as I go. The hardest part is knowing when to stop tweaking and call something “done,” but I’ve learned that imperfect and handmade is often where the magic is.

4. Who’s another maker you admire and what do you love about their work?:

There are so many incredible makers. I feel like I stumble upon a new one every single day! I recently became very obsessed with stained glass and love the account @hicoboci_stainedglass. Their pieces are so whimsical and intricate!

5. How do you manage and overcome creative burnout?:

When I feel burnout creeping in, I step away from creating for content and make something just for myself. I’ll switch mediums, revisit an old technique, or work on a project that doesn’t need to be shared. Giving myself permission to create without pressure usually reignites the spark.

6. Have you experienced a fail? How did you work through it and what did you learn?:

I fail all the time! Some of my favorite projects started as failures, for example, that one time I tried to renovate my entire house, and it went HORRIBLY wrong, and somehow, I have made a career out of it! I’ve learned to pause, reassess, and problem-solve instead of scrapping everything. Those moments have taught me flexibility and reminded me that mistakes are often just part of the creative process, not the end of it.

7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started?:

Start before you feel ready and don’t wait for perfect tools or skills. You learn by doing, and every project, successful or not, teaches you something. Choose projects that excite you, invest in tools you can trust, and give yourself grace as you learn. It is really about the journey, not the destination.

8. What’s next for you? (a new project? a new technique? a new venture?):

I am super interested in creating my own product line to make community and crafting more accessible to EVERYONE. And I really want to sign up for a cabinet building class!
